the PEN/Faulkner Foundation [the PEN/Faulkner Foundation]
an organization originally started by the writer William Faulkner which gives a prize, the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction, every year for the best novel by an American writer and also has programmes in schools in certain US cities to encourage young people to become interested in literature.
